    Seafood processing by-products come from whole fish that are landed or farmed in the clean cool Scottish waters. This results in the highest quality at the start of the valorisation journey ensuring full traceability. In terms of variety of product there are four main types of seafood available. Demersal Fish, Pelagic Fish, Shellfish and Aquaculture (Salmon, Trout & Mussels)

    Scotland has a vibrant diverse highly skilled seafood processing sector with national coverage but a high concentration in the Northeast area. Their access to many species types and their skilled flexible production processes allows for high quality and flexibility in the supply of by-product for initial feedstock.

  • Conversion

    Scotland has an advanced bioprocessing sector and world class academic institutions that can convert seafood by-products to value added innovative new products. By linking these sectors together there is the potential for new product development and added value jobs in Scotland with increased profitability for seafood processors.
